Christmas Sugar Cookie Bars



These Christmas Sugar Cookie Bars are a delightful and colorful treat for the holiday season. They are soft, buttery, and packed with classic sugar cookie flavor. The festive red and green colors, along with the added sprinkles, make them perfect for spreading Christmas cheer at parties and gatherings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red and green food coloring
  • Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms

Divide the dough into three equal parts

Color one part with red food coloring and another part with green food coloring

Press the plain dough into the prepared baking pan, followed by the red and green dough, creating a festive pattern

Add sprinkles or colored sugar on top for decoration

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden

Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares
